Pope Francis issued a message from his hospital bed to thank the medical staff and volunteers for the “miracle of tenderness” they provide to patients, as he continues to recover from pneumonia.
The doctors said that after more than three weeks in the hospital, the 88 -year -old responds well to treatment and showed “gradually and fascinating” in recent days.
On the fourth consecutive Sunday, Francis did not appear because of the grace of his weekly back, but the Vatican distributed the text that he would have delivered if it was good enough. In that, he thanked all those who were interested in him and others who suffer from a “night of pain”.
“My brothers and sisters, while entering the long hospital here, I also test service and tenderness of care, especially from doctors and health care workers, who I thank them from the bottom of my heart,” read the message issued by Jimili Hospital in Rome.
“And while I am here, I think about many people who are in different ways close to patients, and who have a sign of the existence of the Lord. We also need this, the” miracle of tenderness “that accompany those who are in tribulations, which brings a little light on the night of pain.”
Francis, who suffers from chronic lung disease and was part of the lung in which a young man was removed, in a stable condition, with no fever and good levels of oxygen in his blood, for several days.
Doctors said that the Pope’s condition witnessed a “good response to treatment.” This was the first time that Francis was positively responding to the treatment of complex lung infection that was diagnosed after he was admitted to the hospital on February 14.
But they kept his diagnosis as “guarding”, which means that it was not out of danger. On Sunday morning, the Vatican stated that Francis was resting after a quiet night.
In his absence, the daily Vatican operations continued, along with its holy general celebrations, a jubilee that wins a horn brings millions of pilgrims to Rome. On Sunday, Cardinal Cardinal Michael Cherny, close to Francis, celebrated the Holy Year of the Volunteers who were supposed to lead the Pope.
